Overlapping Axis House

After turning into the driveway and slowly winding up the steep terrain, the viewer is gifted a scenic picture of this stone and wood clad form, half submerged in the topography and half overhung and floating above the earth. This hilltop sanctuary overlooks miles of treetops and the natural Maine landscape.

Large south facing windows ensure these views are shared throughout the house and help provide natural solar gain for heating and daylighting proposes. During the warmer months, the horizontal shade over the southern glazing wall, works to prevent overheating this central entertaining space.
